The strong bite of natural teeth. The brilliant smile you want.
At Carlingwood Dental Centre's Implant Centre, the art and science of dental care combine to offer you a second chance to make a first impression.
When a patient loses one, several or even all their teeth, we usually recommend implants over fixed bridges or dentures. Implant treatment is almost always superior, because it provides:
- Greater comfort and a more durable restoration than other options
- Optimal dental function and performance
- A healthy, natural appearance
- Preservation of the jawbone
Implant Options
- Gentle extraction
- Single tooth replacement
- Multiple or complete tooth replacement
- Special circumstances
Gentle Extraction
Ideal treatment planning for implants begins before the teeth are lost. Gentle extraction helps preserve bone structures to ensure the healthy function and appearance of the implants.
Single Tooth Replacement
When a single tooth needs to be replaced, an implant-supported single crown preserves bone and eliminates the need to reduce adjacent teeth. Again, this helps ensure the optimal performance and esthetics of the implant.
Multiple or Complete Tooth Replacement
When multiple teeth must be replaced, we plan carefully and proceed only when we have a precise plan.
We begin with computed tomography (CT scans) of the area. This provides a comprehensive view of the jaw and other structures.
We then use computer-assisted treatment planning to generate a surgical guide. This guide allows the dentist to place the implants safely, quickly and accurately in the available bone.
For our patients, that means:
- Efficient, minimally invasive surgery
- No sutures
- Rapid healing
Special Circumstances
When minimal bone is present, we can employ a variety of techniques to ensure the success of a dental implant procedure. These include:
- Sinus elevations
- Allografts
- Mini-implants
The recommended technique depends on the patient’s unique circumstances.
