COVID-19: What to Expect When You Visit the Dentist

Need to book an appointment but not sure what to expect due to COVID-19? At Carlingwood Dental, we’re committed to providing our patients with the utmost care which is why we’re taking every precaution to ensure you are safe while attending an appointment. All of our safety protocols have been updated in order to adhere to strict infection control standards.

Here is a breakdown of what you can expect during your next visit to our clinic.

Screening Questions

When booking your appointment, our staff will ask you a few questions as part of our standard screening process in reference to COVID-19 symptoms and potential exposure. When you arrive for your appointment, you will be asked these questions once again to reconfirm.

Arrive Alone for Your Appointment

Only patients with a confirmed appointment will be allowed in the clinic. If you’re booking for yourself, we please ask that you come alone and do not bring any family members with you. Also, to help minimize germs, there will no longer be any reading materials or children’s toys available in our waiting room.

Wait Outside Until We Call You In

Prior to your appointment, please call us from outside of the mall or in your vehicle to let us know that you have arrived. Our staff will confirm your appointment and give you a call back to let you know when you can enter the clinic.

Use Hand Sanitizer and Wear a Face Mask When Entering the Clinic

Upon entering our office, patients will be required to use hand sanitizer to disinfect their hands. We also require face mask coverings at all times while waiting.

Physical Distancing Between Patients

All of our appointments are now booked with physical distancing in mind. They will be spaced out to prevent any close contact with other patients. As a result, there will also be less flexibility for scheduled appointments. So we please ask that you arrive on time since we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate late arrivals.

More Protective Gear

Finally, you’ll notice that our staff and dentists will be wearing more protective gear than usual, including gowns, face masks, and face shields as additional precautions.

Prioritizing Dental Emergencies

At this point in time, dental emergencies will be prioritized.

We take the health and safety of each patient seriously and have implemented these procedures to help keep you safe at all times while in our clinic. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
